2019 VBS week is July 1520! Check out the sign-up sheet in the back of the church for help needed such as Kitchen Help and donations of food and paper goods for the Dinner and pool party. Donations are also needed for the Homeless Care Kits that some of the VBS kids will make: tube socks, travel size soap, small combs, brushes Kleenex, small shampoo and conditioner, lotion, mints, lip balm, deodorant, sunscreen, band-aids, toothbrush/toothpaste, wet wipes and beef jerky. There will be a box at the back of the church where you can drop off these items. Ask for a Parable of the Talents envelope, raise money (to, at least, double) for the Annunciation House in El Paso, Texas. Return the envelope by July 17 to Father Uriel or Jill Skinner. Donate to the St. Joseph Food Pantry during VBS. There is always a need for dry beans, rice, flour, cornmeal, enriched noodles, cooking oil, canned fruits and vegetables, tuna and peanut butter. And don’t orget to invite family and friends – everyone is welcome!

2019 VBS Speakers for Monday, July 15, are Lou Slapshak (Diocesan Prison Ministry), who will speak about prison ministry possibilities, David Figueora (Alcoholics Anonymous), who will talk about addiction and recovery and Marci Malnar (Illinois Department of Children and Family Services), who will talk about how all of this will affect children. Tuesday, July 16, will welcome Sister Janet McCann of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ with a talk about “A Life of Compassionate Presence”, touching issues about women, immigration and global policies for respecting the earth. All are invited to attend!

Thank You to all who helped prepare the master copy, print and assemble the new Sermon on the Mount booklets. We will be distributing them at the VBS Mass on Thursday, July 18. The Mass will begin at 7:00 PM. Students who are participating in the readings and other parts of the Mass are asked to assemble in the Hall at 6:30.
